TECHNICALLY CHALLENGING PARTS MADE TO VERY TIGHT TOLDERANCES.

M&E Products specializes in the production of tight tolerance often complex parts that many other machining companies are unable to produce.

LARGE COMPLEX RINGS

Our machinists are especially skilled in the machining of up to 16” OD rings with critical ID and OD dimensions that have significant amounts of material to be removed through milling. These parts can be very sensitive to flexion which require a final turning operation post milling.

The most critical dimensions are:

OD: 15.025”; Tolerance: +0.001”/-0.001”

ID: 10.875”; Tolerance: +/-0.0005”

The large complex ring components we produce typically contain multiple bolt holes with tapping that require critical hole locations with +/-0.0005” tolerances

COMPLEX TIGHT TOLERANCE SHAFT

M&E’s is a leading expert at producing <2.00” OD shafts with complex geometry that include critical dimensions for diameters and keyways. The shafts we machine typically have up to 10 diameters and grooves. Material is typically 4340 or 4140 bar stock. The component pictured is machined on M&E’s new Haas ST-20Y Lathe with sub-spindle and Y axis.

There are multiple tight tolerance dimensions in such parts as follows:

OD: 1.376”; Tolerance: +0.0005”; -0.0005”

Keyway: 0.251” wide; Tolerance: +/- 0.001”

THIN-WALLED SPACER RING

M&E specializes in machining high-tolerance components for gear systems. Our experienced machinists exhibit their capabilities by producing over 300 different industrial components. The pictured thin-walled spacer ring is just one example of a mission-critical component that M&E regularly produces.

The most critical dimensions are:

Wall thickness: 0.125”

OD: 7.500”; Tolerance: +0.001”/- 0.001”

ID: 7.25”, Tolerance: +0.001”/-0.001”

Surface finish at: 13-18

The parts are produced by using special fixtures to apply minimal pressure and distortion to the ring during machining. Surface finish is critical and is achieved using a technique that has been perfected by M&E’s skilled machinists.

TIGHT TOLERANCE CASTINGS

Many of our customers supply castings to M&E for machining. Customer castings are often non-symmetrical, non-round and also have a high degree of dimensional variability. M&E is experienced with these inconsistencies in castings weighing from 2 pounds up to 60 pounds.M&E has significant experience creating custom fixtures using the latest technology in parts holding in order to achieve the required tolerances for these challenging shaped castings.

Typical dimensions/tolerances are as follows:

Large ID: 12.482 +/- 0.001”

Small ID: 8.2500 +/- 0.0005”

Cast material is typically ductile iron. This casting material can often have inclusions and hard spots –

all of which are easily managed by the

highly skilled M&E team.
